Winter Solstice on the Paps

Winter Solstice on the Paps

OVER 200 people gathered in darkness at the farm of Sean and Mary O’Donoghue in Glenflesk, to climb the Paps of Anú to honour the Goddess Anú.

And, in doing so, they celebrated in song, dance and blessings, the annual Winter Solstice, in aid of Kerry Hospice Foundation’s palliative care service.

It was an incredible morning of generosity, friendship and great fun and one of the chief organisers, photographer Valerie O’Sullivan, said it will now become an annual event.

She said the organisers are indebted to Derry and Rosie Healy, Mary Cronin, Jan Tetteroo, Donie Mulcahy, John O’Sullivan, Batty O’Sullivan, Mike Doherty, Marguerite O’Neill, Ann Kelly, Fiona O’Donoghue, James Moynihan, Elaine Burke, Jacquie O’Sullivan, Killarney Chamber of Tourism and Commerce and Lisa and the staff at Café du Parc.

To date, over €4,000 has been gathered for Kerry Hospice which represents an incredible Christmas gift.
